Waymond "Joe" Bray, age 76, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born April 9, 1948 in Oklahoma City to Erven and Maedean Bray. Joe married his best friend and the love of his life, Karen Shannon on October 7, 1989.
They loved traveling and cruising together all over the world but their special slice of paradise was Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Joe joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country as an Air Traffic Controller and was honorably discharged in 1971 after 4 years of faithful service. He then went on to work as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA. He was a gun enthusiast and made many guns and knives. Joe was called a 'Maverick' by his family and friends because he did things his own way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vera.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Bray; son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Heather Shannon; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Wes Updike and Joellen and Paul Ferree; and six grandchildren.
Joe’s ashes will be placed at Fort Sill National Cemetery
