Robert “Don” Alexander passed away at his home on Saturday, November 17th. There will be a memorial service for Don at Bill Merritt Funeral Home sanctuary, (6201 NW 39th St.) with Reverend Tom Alvarez officiating on Friday, November 23rd at 10:30 a.m.
Don was born to Robert Alexander and Bernita (Blehm) Alexander on January 22, 1933 in Guthrie, OK. He was raised in the Cashion & Guthrie area. He graduated from Cashion High School and was raised mainly by his grandparents. He worked at an early age for his Uncle and others in the harvests, later working on oil rigs, mostly in Texas. Don served in Korea with the 121st Army Brigade and joined the Army Reserves upon his discharge. He worked last in the 3001 building at Tinker Air Force base where he retired in 1988 after 30 plus years. He also worked as City Inspector for the Town of Jones for several years, retiring from this job in 2010. He also drove an activity school bus and was a substitute bus driver for Jones Schools.
Don leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Connie L. Alexander, daughter, Terry McCurdy & husband Phil Scotzin, two step daughters Debi Oliver & husband Steve, Paula Fielding, and step son Don Blassingame & wife Peggy; grandchildren, Jennifer Murray & husband William, Sr., Beverly Laws & husband Dusty, Chris Alexander, Chris White & wife Mary Ann, Joe Oliver, Kyra Oliver, Erica Flores & husband Josh, Justin Blassingame & fiancé Allison Whitfield; great-grandchildren, Jesse Cook, Jace Cook, William Murray, Jr., Miri McCurdy, Zayn McCurdy, Lucas White, Tyler Alexander, Kyle Alexander. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Alexander, and grandson John McCurdy.
Don loved to hunt, fish, go boating & skiing on the lake, square dancing, playing cards and other games with his family and friends. If he caught lots of fish, he would have a big fish fry for family, neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
