John Wesley McGaugh passed away February 16, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK He was born June 26, 1938 in Garden City, KS to Wesley Monroe and Margaret McCombs McGaugh. John moved to Oklahoma City from Chardon, NE in 1988. He attended Garden City Jr. College, Colorado State University and the University of Kentucky where he received his Masters and PhD in Reproductive Physiology and Animal Nutrition. After receiving his degrees he moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma where he worked for American Breeders Association until 1974. Then he became a Professor and Farm Superintendent at Fort Hays State University, continuing in his love of animals. John was an Army Veteran, Member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, and the Treasurer of The Young Men’s Association. He was a past member of the Greens Country Club. John enjoyed using computers for work and pleasure. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Robert Frank McGaugh and an infant sister Ann McGaugh. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Audrey; 3 sons - John W. McGaugh, Jr and wife Miriam of Stillwater; Larry McGaugh of Piedmont; Robert (Bob) Wayne McGaugh of Guthrie; a sister, Louise Salsbury and husband Don of Bolchow, MO; 3 grandchildren, Wesley, Maggie and Cody as well as many other relatives and friends. Family requests in lieu of flowers donation be made to St Jude; The American Lung or Heart Association; Lakeside United Methodist Church; or Chapel Hill Methodist Church.
