Thelma Jean Dewey, 84, was born February 26, 1940 in Independence, Kansas to Amos and Juanita Kolb. She passed away quietly on August 13, 2024 in Bentonville, Arkansas with her family beside her, having endured many years living with Alzheimer’s.
Thelma and Terry moved to Bella Vista in 1972, where they started an electrical business. Golf was one of their favorite activities, along with being members and very active in the New Life Church of Bella Vista. They made many lasting friendships at church and on the golf course, among other places keeping them involved in many activities with a busy social life.
A favorite way to spend time was with their cherished family. Thelma loved taking care of her home and family, all while keeping the office and business running smoothly. She was the epitome of class but had a spunky side, with a quick wit that could not be beat. You could not find a more loving mother, dear friend, and sweet soul. Thelma excelled at being nurturing and received great joy caring for little ones. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband of 59 years, Terry; parents, Amos and Juanita; brother, Lloyd; and sisters, Lois Brown (Tom) and Violet Wilde (Roger).
Thelma is survived by: son, Mark Dewey (Karin); daughter, Dena Tanksley (Curtis); grandson, Evan Dewey (Lisa), all of Bentonville. She is also survived by great grandsons, Christian, Ian, and Michael.
