Monica was born June 3, 1956 to Shirley and William Smith in Hamilton, Ohio. As a child, she and her family spent many summers boating and camping at Laughery Creek on the Ohio River. She developed a lifelong love of horses and competed in English-style equestrian competitions on her favorite horse, Sammy. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1974. Eventually, Monica moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas to raise her two sons, Nathan and Andrew. Somewhere between Boy Scouts and guitar lessons, she met and fell in love with Gil Eaton. They were married in an outdoor ceremony on the banks of the Eaton Creek on June 19, 2010.
Monica was always up for an adventure from helicopter rides to Elton John concerts. She and Gil traveled widely and enjoyed the beauty of nature. Her talents, many and varied, included being an accomplished seamstress and baking delectable pies. Perhaps her most noteworthy talent was making everyone around her feel known and loved.
She is survived by her husband, Gil; her sons, Nathan and Andrew; a stepdaughter, Tara; three beloved grandchildren, JT, Jillian, and Reuben; her mother, Shirley; and her brother, Brandon.
She was predeceased by her father, William.
