Dale Michael Allen, 81, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 29, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Gladys (Mikels) Allen.
Sixty years ago, on April 27, 1963, Dale married Shirley Jean Barnes in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they had three children.
He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #124 for 58 years. He served on the Executive Board for many years. He was the President of the Retirees for eight years and treasurer for several more. He also served on the Political Action Committee and was a mentor to many young members, professionally and personally. In 1988, when Dale and Shirley had their first grandchild, they initiated the kids Christmas party and were still serving on the committee for their great grandchildren.
Dale participated in Christmas in October helping to make electrical repairs for less fortunate families in KC.
Before Dale entered the workforce, he graduated from Hogan High School in 1959. He also attended St. Elizabeth's Catholic School. He was a licensed auto mechanic, boy scout and square dancer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his children, James Allen (Dianne), Debbie Burton, and Kevin Allen (Lauren). He has 8 grandchildren, Courtney, Jeff, Nathan, Cassie, Leeanna, Emory, Phoebe and Harrison. He has three great grandchildren, Zane, Owen and Wade.
There was nothing Dale loved more than his family, his brotherhood, his 57’ Chevy, visiting casinos, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs & Royals and family roadtrips on Route 66.
A visitation for Dale will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Parish, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 12:15 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
