May 18, 1948 to February 20, 2011
James LeRoy Rivera was born on May 18th, 1948 in Santa Ana, California to Joe & Soledad Rivera. He graduated from La Quinta High School in 1966. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 under the 5th Surgical Hospital Unit. He was employed with the City of Westminster on the Maintenance crew from 1973 to 2003.
Jim always had a love for sports, he has been an Angels Fan since the team first came to Orange County. If he wasn't enjoying the game at the stadium with the family, he was on the couch at home with his baseball buddy Sara enjoying the game.
Jim met the love of his life, Rita in 1982 and married her in 1983 and moved to Bellflower. They had an instant family with their 3 girls, Delicia, Shasta, and Christina. In 1984 they welcomed their first daughter together, Veronica and in 1992 their baby Sara Rae. Jim loved each of his five girls so much!
Jim has always been a family man, if he wasn't helping Rita with Girl Scouts for the past 25 years he was attending one of his daughter's many softball games. He loved coaching his daughters softball team and later watching his granddaughter Kaelene play softball. He was their biggest fan! Jim loved his grandkids and enjoyed being Grandpa/ Papa to Kaelene, Makayla, and Tristan. They will miss him so much. He tried to make everyone of K's games, play tea party with Makayla, and meet T at the bus after school.
One of Jim's favorite pastimes was Reading, he could read an entire novel in two days. You could find him many days at the dining table reading or completing another favorite crossword puzzle.
He had great admiration and a deep love for his Brother Tim, Sisters Sally, Pat, Anita & Sylvia and their spouses. There are so many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews that Jim also loved.
We will all miss him!
Rita, Delicia, Shasta, Christina, Veronica and Sara would like to thank all of the many Friends and Family members for all of their Love and Support during this difficult time.
Arrangements under the direction of Whites Funeral Home, Bellflower, CA.
