Mike was born December 4, 1927 and passed away October 18, 2010 at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA. He was the beloved son of the late Leona and Michael Weaver Sr. He grew up on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, attended and graduated from Queen High School going on to graduate from the University of Washington in 1949. While at the University, Mike joined the Psi Upsilon Fraternity and was very active as an undergraduate. Upon graduating he stayed involved in the fraternity for twenty years, as the Alumni Chapter Advisor. Additionally, Mike became President of the Theta Theta Alumni Association from 1953 – 1955 and was the first person from the “west coast” to serve a five year term on the Psi Upsilon Executive Council.
People were the large part of Mike’s life. He loved people and knew many. Mike’s humor was created by his quick wit, which lead to his likeability. He had friends everywhere. To listen to Mike tell stories about [or on] himself of his experiences was equal to any comedy hour on stage or radio. Stories of his youthful days on the Montana dude ranch, skiing outings, Navy experiences on his submarine, his sailboat in Canada, the fraternity house, trips to Europe and business experiences were all related with great humor. Mike was asked once, how he worked out in his mind to retire from his job. He replied, "You just don't go".
In his later years he was the proud owner of the “Canadian Fifer”, an older wooden boat beautifully restored with a long and interesting history. The “Fifer” was moored in Victoria, B.C. where once again he made some lasting friendships. Mike was also a lifelong member of the Seattle Yacht Club.
There will be a remembrance and celebration of Mike’s life on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, from 1 – 3 pm. It will be held at his sister’s home, located at 12712 NE 39th Street, Bellevue, WA 98005.
