Michael Gordie passed peacefully with his family around him on July 7, 2022. While fighting an illness, Michael remained devoted to his family and friends.
While Michael grew up throughout the United States, including in Delaware, Georgia, Alabama, California, and Washington, Seattle was his home. Michael attended Newport High School in Bellevue, Washington from 1992 – 1996. Michael obtained a Bachelor of Science, Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2000. While at Creighton, Michael was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Michael embodied the ideals and values of SigEp; he was a Balanced Man in terms of body, mind, and spirit. Michael received his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in 2003, where he was a member of the Seattle University Law Review.
Michael had a lifelong passion for enhancing the healthcare system, focusing on health administration and policy and health law, applying his regulatory expertise to the broader scope of life sciences business challenges. After law school, Michael was the Compliance Program Manager at Harborview Medical Center and then Corporate Counsel at Quorum Review, Inc., both in Seattle. In 2007, Michael joined PRTM Management Consultants and moved to Los Angeles. PRTM was acquired by PwC in 2011, and Michael became a partner in PwC’s Washington, DC office. He retired from PwC in 2019 as the US Parma Regulatory Lead – Healthcare Advisory. Michael was hardworking, dedicated to his clients, and a treasured colleague to those fortunate to work with him.
Michael was a sports enthusiast. His first love was baseball, and Michael was a dedicated Seattle Mariners fan, and also adopted the Los Angeles Dodgers while living in Los Angeles and the Washington Nationals while living in Washington, DC. Michael was a Seattle Seahawks season ticket holder for many years and was at Super Bowl XLVIII when the Seahawks decidedly beat the Denver Broncos. He also followed the Creighton Bluejays men’s basketball team, many times traveling with this Creighton friends to the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament: Go Jays!
Michael leaves behind his mother Patricia Capistran, sister Albeny Capistran (Robert) Kennedy, and dad Steve Capistran; his father Richard (Debbie) Gordie, sister Devry (Miguel) Aldaz, brother Billy (Katie) Gordie, nephew Cooper Michael Gordie, and nieces Zeffie Aldaz and Nora Gordie; former wife Beth Prieve Gordie; additional family and friends; and his beloved rescue dog, Sydney.
A celebration of life for Michael is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Bellevue, Washington. The family asks that donations be sent to water.org lieu of flowers. Michael traveled to India while working for PRTM and, watching young children carrying buckets of water long distances while knowing the water was contaminated, became passionate about access to safe water and household water connections.
Until the end, Michael would answer his family and friends calls on the first ring. Michael’s was a life well lived, and a life ended too soon. Michael will be remembered for his wit, charm, generosity, kindness, and contagious laughter. While there is solace in that Michael is no longer suffering, he will be deeply missed.
