Helen was born on August 10, 1919, in Seattle, Washington, to Nels and Thyra Soderlind. She was the beloved sister of three brothers, Reynold, Daniel, and Lawrence, all of whom preceded her in death.
Helen attended Seattle University, where she cultivated a deep love for learning that she carried with her throughout her life. She dedicated her career to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher, where she was known for her dedication and commitment to her students' success.
On August 7, 1965, Helen married Alex Andersen, a kind and gentle man. Together, they shared a love for traveling, exploring new places, and enjoying the beauty of the world around them
Although Helen and Alex did not have children of their own, Helen was an involved aunt to her 12 nieces, nephews, and large extended family.
In her later years, Helen became an avid reader, often spending hours immersed in books and staying informed about current events. Her keen intellect and thoughtful insights were admired by those who knew her.
Helen will be remembered for her strong will, dedication to education, and her lifelong love of learning.
In accordance with her wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
