

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Delbert Marti Smith. He was born Jan 2, 1927 and parted from us on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Delbert had turned 98 years old this past January with a birthday celebration with family members. He is survived by his son Douglas Marti Smith, wife Luellen, Grandson Trevor Smith w/wife Kelsey and Granddaughter Cassie Tierney w/husband Jake, along with five Great Grandkids: Luke, Finnegan, Hallie, Beckham, and coming in June, Bennett. Also survived by his daughter Deborah M Evans, husband Jerry, Granddaughters Sarah Fitzpatrick w/husband Mark, Rachel Jenkins w/ husband Jason, and Mary Honer w/husband Rob along with ten Great Grandkids: Abby, Jonathan, Andrew, Taylor, Carson, Brynn, Bailey, Micah, Audrey, and Levi.
Delbert was born in Omaha NB but spent most of childhood in Jamestown NY. He attended Michigan Tech University and graduated in 1946 with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation he was hired in 1947 by Seattle City Lighting to work with the engineering team on the Ross Dam project in Newhalem WA, then moved to Seattle City Light main offices in downtown Seattle, where he did multiple civil engineering projects and retired in 1997. His 50 years of service at City Light we were told is the longest running employee in Seattle City history. He was always very proud of the work he did at City Light. Delbert has left us now he will be remembered by those that knew him.
At this time, we ask that you keep the family and friends of Delbert in your thoughts and prayers. There will be no services, and the family asks please do not send flowers, but just remember him as you knew him during his long 98 year journey of life.
