A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend was too soon reunited with our Heavenly Father and his mother D'Anna who predeceased him in 2009. Blake was born in Laguna Hills, California, and is survived by his father, Scot, and sister, Carmen.
Blake, an Electrical Engineering senior and member of Kappa Sigma fraternity at Gonzaga University, attended Bellevue Christian School and The International School before graduating from Bellevue High School in 2014. He was a member of the Bellevue High School swim and water polo teams, was a Young Life leader, a Relay for Life team leader and a Sunday School teacher and intern for the Bellevue Presbyterian Church Children's Ministries.
Blake was extraordinarily kind, generous, sensitive and compassionate. He was gentle and loving with animals and they could immediately sense this kindness. He was an old soul who cared deeply for those around him and most often put the needs of others before his own. Blake's sense of "time" was considerably more relaxed than most while he pursued his love for Star Wars, Welsh Corgi's or whatever interest it was that had recently caught his attention. This calm was Blake's gentle nature and refreshing to those around him as we were reminded to slow down, enjoy life and pursue our interests. Blake was a kid at heart and the children he coached in swimming, babysat, worked with in Church Youth Groups and knew from the neighborhood respected and looked up to Blake as a role model.
Blake was passionate and interested in literally everything and brought so much light and joy to those around him. He was incredibly curious and inquisitive and thus always had a million questions as he wanted to know "how come" and "why". Blake was a wonderful writer and deep thinker who had countless hobbies including running, hiking, biking, skiing, fishing & "squidding", science, electronics, cooking, brewing beer, photography and playing the bass guitar. He was passionate and committed about research, raising awareness and finding cures for both colon cancer and coloboma of the optic nerve.
Blake's biggest passion was his commitment to God. Blake loved the Lord, had an unwavering Faith and knew that he would one day be reunited with his loving mother.
Blake truly blessed those around him and changed our lives forever. We Love him deeply and will miss him and his gentle spirit the rest of our days. May the Good Lord shelter Blake and hold him close until we are rejoined in Heaven. Goodbye for now.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Blake's life will be held on Saturday June 23rd at 1:00pm at Bellevue Presbyterian Church: 1717 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue WA, 98004.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to https://www.gofundme.com/james-blake-evans-memorial-fund. Funds will support the children's ministry of Bellevue Presbyterian Church and the Electrical Engineering Department at Gonzaga University.
