Anthony Robert Owens was born in Daly City, CA on February 29, 1968. He died peacefully in his Bellevue home on December 18, 2014 after a 4-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was 46 years old.
Anthony was a military man dedicated to life-long learning. He enlisted in the Navy out of high school to go see the world. He went on to be the first in his family to graduate from college with a Bachelors degree from WWU, Juris Doctoris from Gonzaga, and Master of Laws in Admiralty from Tulane. He was commissioned into the US Coast Guard in 2004 and embarked on an exciting career in military justice, serving others as well as his country every day with all his might. In his off hours, he dabbled in his many interests including art, lacrosse, Shotokan karate, and baseball. By far, his proudest accomplishment was fatherhood. His baby girl was his pride and joy. Anthony is survived by his wife, daughter, mother and brother. A special thank you to all of our family, friends, and his caregivers for your love and care. We’d also like to thank the staff of the Virginia Mason ALS Clinic, the Veterans Administration, Evergreen Hospice, the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter, and the Navy Wounded Warrior-Safe Harbor for their support over the years.
