Terry Joe Sumner

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Austin and Ladina Jane, nee Whittenburge, Sumner; brothers, Jean David Sumner and Richard (Dorothy) Sumner; a sister Barbara Ann Sumner and his loving wife, Nancy Kaye, nee Lowe, Sumner.

Terry is survived by his loving daughter, Mikayla Morgan, one stepson, Tony (Kate) Buechler, step-granddaughters, Violet and Vivian and one granddaughter, Marianna Rolls. He is further survived by sisters, Sharon (late Jesse) Steele of Perryville, Missouri and Kimberly (Ernie) Dickerson of Baldwin, Illinois.

A special thanks to his nieces, Angela Martin, Valerie Morgan and Abigail Martin for the special care they have given Terry while he was battling his illness and keeping him comfortable in his last few days.

Terry had many nieces and nephews in which he adored and loved as well as other family members. A special thanks to Ardent Hospice Care out of O’Fallon, Illinois, and nurses, Susan and Tanya, nurses aid, Jennifer, chaplain, Harvey and social worker, Elaine.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral will start at 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Interment will be private at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to Valerie Morgan and may be dropped off at the funeral home.
