Ron, the oldest of three children, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family devoutly, especially his grandson Blaise who was the light of PaPaw’s life.
While attending Quincy College and prior to his graduation, Ron met the love of his life, Marge Shetterly, whom he married on May 26, 1973.
Ron had a long and distinguished career with St. Clair County as a probation officer. After 31 years, he retired as the director of probation for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. His strong work ethic and dedication was always admirable.
After retirement, Ron enjoyed playing golf and also worked as an usher for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. Working for the Cardinals was his dream job and he savored every moment of it. He loved to travel and visit presidential libraries around the country with his wife. Above all else, Ron cherished spending time with his family. Everyone thought Ron was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Julius “Jule” Schaefer; father-in-law, Thomas Shetterly; mother-in-law, Carma Shetterly and nephew, Thomas Shetterly III.
