Mr. Gross had served in the Air Force Reserves. Roger was a cement mason for Local 90, serving on the Apprenticeship program, PACTT, and Health and Welfare Trustee. He was a member of St. Peters Cathedral. Roger was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He was an avid sports fan.
Roger is preceded in death by his father, Oscar Gross; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Kanitz.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Gross, nee Oberndorfer; children, Andrea M. (Phil) Schaefer, Waterloo, Ill. and Joseph E. Gross (Chrissy), Edwardsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Abigail M. Schaefer, Chase M. Gross and grandson to be; mother, Gertrude C. Gross, nee Kessen; brother, Donald (Colleen) Gross, Oakdale, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Gerald J. (Agneta) Oberndorfer and Ervin J. (Sandy) Oberndorfer; sisters-in-law, Annette M. (Dave) Miller and Sue M. (Mic) Giess.
