Robert was a retired installer for AT&T Telephone Company after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 4730, Dover, Tennessee, the Telephone Communication Workers of America and the Beer Drinkers of America. Robert enjoyed fishing, boating, volleyball, washers, and drinking a cold beer. Robert served in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, nee Poe, Modlin; daughter Lori Finch; parents, Arthur Taylor and Kathryn Frances, nee Thomas, Modlin; and a son –in- law, James Finch.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife Marybeth, nee Allan, Modlin; children, Robert (Kathy) Modlin of Maryville, Illinois; Jimmy (Jenny) Modlin of Edwardsville, Illinois, Debbie Finch of Dover, Tennessee, Cathy Modlin of Granite City, Illinois, Linda Curless of Granite City, Illinois, and Darla (Paul) Tretter of Granite City, Illinois; a step-daughter, Bobbie (Tim) Madura of Troy, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and other relatives family and friends.
