Jack Arlen Mondy, of Columbia, IL, born June 12, 1932, passed away Monday, January 2, in his sleep at his home. Jack retired from Phillips Petroleum and was a Korean War veteran. He was a proud American and even prouder Husband, Father and Grandfather. For the past two years, Jack, along with his daughter, Renee, were volunteer drivers for the Kirkwood, Missouri Meals on Wheels. After their Tuesday deliveries, they enjoyed lunch together, what Renee affectionately called “Tuesdays with Jack.” Jack was quite the crooner and, had fate gone a little differently, he might have been the 4th Rat Packer. He loved Frankie Laine and his rendition of “I Believe”, because he believed.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Eleanora (nee Mischke), who passed away May 16, 2009, his mother and father, Edna and Milton Mondy and a baby sister, Barbara Jean.
He is survived by his daughter Renee Stout (nee Mondy) and her husband, Bradley; son Michael Bradley, and daughter, Jacqueline Renee of Webster Groves, MO; a brother, Charles and his wife, Gloria of Glen Carbon, IL.; his sister-in-law, Jeanette Forquer of Creve Coeur, Mo., and it must be mentioned, his dog, Buddy.
