Evelyn Patricia Mabra-Parsons (nee Williamson), 82, of Swansea, IL, born March 21, 1936, in Chicago, IL was called from this life Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lena (nee Gabel) Williamson; brother, Wesley Williamson; two sisters Arbutus Rowley, and Joyce Muir; husband Kenneth Mabra; husband Eston Parsons; and son Dale Mabra.
Surviving are her four children: Margaret (John) Miller of Waterloo, IL, Edward (Donna) Mabra of Belleville, IL, Barbara (Robert) Collin of Glen Carbon, IL, Martha (Mark) Lukey of Decatur, AL, as well as daughter-in-law Ricarda Mabra of St. Louis, MO, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her very special friends in life were Susan Rhodes and family, John and Mary Jo Lukey, and the late Dean Gauss.
Evelyn was a member of the local Retail Clerks working at Kroger and Wade Square Tomboy for many years. Her children attended Franklin School in Belleville, where she served as a room mother, president of the Franklin School PTA, and president of Belleville District 118 PTA Council. She was involved in many programs that benefited the children in District 118 and Franklin School. She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Belleville, and a member of Millstadt Home Extension. She enjoyed books, poetry, country music, yard sales, helping others and spending time with her family and friends. In her later years, she found the preservation of our nation’s wild mustangs an interesting and worthwhile endeavor.
