Edward Escobedo

Edward Escobedo, 91, of Belleville, IL passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Frances Escobedo; and sisters, Carrie and Mary. Edward is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Joanne (nee Schaefer) Escobedo; children, Anthony (Jeanie) Escobedo, Edward (Denise) Escobedo, Melinda (Don) Schmidt, and Robyn (John) Voellinger; grandchildren, Jessica Shaw, Toni Escobedo, Casey Escobedo, Kelsie (Chris) Reaka, Nathan (Michaela) Williamson, Nicholas Williamson, Claire Marlen, and Cole Marlen; great grandchildren, Kendall Escobedo, Easton Reaka, Mykenna Nance, Kenleigh Nance, Bryce Nance, and Guage Escobedo.

Edward was the owner of Esco Electrical Service Co. in Belleville where he worked hard to support his family and his community. He was proud veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean War where he earned several medals. In his spare time, he loved to woodwork and showed tremendous talents making tables, cedar chests, and desks for his family and friends. Edward loved being around his family, especially cooking for them. His tamales and beans were the best and he always made enough to feed a full party of people. Ed’s warm spirit, love for family, and great cooking will be missed.
