Alice Rosella Morineau Brown passed away at age 91 in Portland, Oregon on May 25, 2022. She was born in Centreville, Illinois on March 20, 1931, to Louis and Lois (Wilson) Morineau. She was the youngest of three children, growing up with her sister Marie and brother Glenn. She attended grade school in Maplewood Park, Illinois and graduated in 1949 from high school in Dupo, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother.
Rosella married Corporal George W. Brown, US Marine Corps, on March 18, 1951. They were married for 53 years and raised their family in Belleville, Illinois. Rosella worked 25 years with the Defense Communications Agency (DECCO) at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, retiring in April 1991.
Over the years Rosella was a member of Unity Roselawn Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois; and St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Belleville. After moving to Oregon in 2003, Rosella was a member of Cedar Mill Bible Church in Portland. She was an active volunteer in Oregon for Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) at McKinley Elementary School in Beaverton, and at Second Edition Resale/Cedar Mill Public Library in Portland.
Rosella was kind, funny, strong and loved. She is survived by four children – Sharon, Karen, Steven and Michael; two daughters-in-law – Sandy and Nancy; and three grandchildren – Aaron, Lauren and Sage.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.; the American Heart Association; or the Alzheimer’s Association.
