Mary Jane McBride

She was born in 1941 in Sterling, Ill. to L. Fred and Blanche (Shortridge) Casner and lived most of her early life in Fairmount, Ind. She was the valedictorian of Fairmount High School’s Class of 1959 and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in geography from Indiana University.

A Houston resident for 47 years, Mary Jane was a longtime employee of the Coastal Corporation, serving in managerial positions of progressive responsibility in information technology.

She was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, Texas and a passionate lover of the outdoors. The years after retirement found her enjoying the hiking trails in Colorado.

She is survived by her brother Charles Casner, sons David (Aimee) and Brian, and grandchildren Andrew and Frances.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd. The family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Jane’s name to the Mitchell Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, 301 University Blvd., Galveston, Texas 77555-0148.
