Elva Mae Johnson, 100, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021. She was born in Burtville, Louisiana and was raised in a large and loving family. She had 9 brothers and sisters. She was married to Surward Johnson for 73 years. Together, they raised four children and two of their grandchildren in Houston.
Elva lived a full life. The matriarch of a large extended family, she will be missed by many. She was strong in her faith, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for more than 65 years. She worked 20 years for the Catholic diocese. Her door and heart were always open. She taught so many the benefits of sacrifice and lived a life of love.
Elva is preceded in death by her husband, Surward and her son Lynward Ray. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Evans (Charlie) of Marble Falls, Karen Adams (Bob) of Round Rock, son Dave Johnson (Christi) of Tulsa, OK, grandson Bill Johnson (Kris) of Tampa FL, and granddaughter Sissy Boyer (Walt) of Houston; as well as ten other grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Elva’s celebration of life will be on Friday March 5th at St Vincent de Paul – There will be a 9:00 a.m. visitation; 9:45 a.m. Rosary, and Mass at 10:30 a.m which will be live streamed on their YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN1wE9WCQXd95DcWeWu_uoA. Internment will be at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery 13102 North Freeway, Houston 77060 at 3:00 p.m.
