Armida (Bellarosa) Petrizzo, 93, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 11, 2022. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 14, 1929, to Michael and Carmela Bellarosa, Italian natives who emigrated to the United States. She grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and met her husband there. She married Michael Petrizzo on September 4, 1949, and was married to him for over 62 years until his death in 2012.
She and Michael moved to Houston, Texas in 1956, when he took at job at Lykes Lines. She remained a resident of Houston, Texas for over 65 years, living in Bellaire and then Meyerland. She and Michael had four children, Michael, JoAnn, Jerry, and Tom. She is survived by Michael and his wife Lana, JoAnn Cramer and her husband Mike Cramer, granddaughter Alexandra and great-granddaughter Jiselle, Jerry, and Tom and his wife Teri, and step granddaughters Jennifer and Madeline.
Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her four children and being a mom and grandma. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Church for over 50 years, loved animals, especially dogs, and followed the Astros religiously. For the last 5 years of her life, Armida lived at Brookdale Galleria Assisted Living Center. She greatly enjoyed her life at Brookdale making friends with fellow residents and staff members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookdale Galleria, 2929 Post Oak Road, Houston, Texas on Thursday June 16th, at 1:30 p.m. on the second floor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Houston SPCA.
