I just got a notification on LinkedIn congratulating Mike for 10 years at GE, and I can't believe it has been 5 years since he left us.

I have met only a handful of people who I truly admired for their character, and Michael was easily one of the best. I always learned something from every call I had with him, not just about our products, but about how to care about and respect other people. I remember stepping in to accept an award for him at a GE sales event while he was out fighting his battle, and I did my best to tell the audience what a great man he was. I am thankful that I met him.

Michael was a colleague of mine at Standard Automation/MTL-MOST.  I was deeply sadden learning on Friday, September 27, 2013 of his passing.  My prayers are with his family.  Mike was a gem of an individual and a fine gentleman.  This world needs more Mike Weiss' who do the right thing.

I wrote the first comment and I'll write the last.  I still miss you so much baby.  I don't know what I'm doing without you.  You were my best friend.  I'm still talking to you everyday just to make it through to the next day.  My first post was written about you.  My last one is written to you.

A LETTER OF FRIENDSHIP from Mark Frazier

Mike has many friends which was apparent over the past couple of days. He has friends he has known for a short time and some for an extended time. 
Then there are some very close friends whom he has known since High School and before. Friends like Jeff Rogers, Neil Cummings and Mark Lamartina. We have all stayed best friends over the years, getting together for graduation parties, birthdays, summer parties; but the most memorable gatherings were the SUPERBOWL parties which we all attended faithfully for the past 35 years.

My friendship went even further with Mike. There is not a memory or time in my life where Mike was not my friend.  We grew up together, attended school together. We were Best Man at each other's wedding and we rocked each other's' children to sleep singing the theme to Gilligan's Island. We are as close as brothers. Mike was my first friend in life and we have remained best friends for all 52 years of our lives.

So I am sure you can all see how lucky I am and how lucky we all are to have a friend that makes saying goodbye so hard. 

Missing Mike will get easier each day because even though it is one day further from the last time we saw him, it is one day closer until we see him again.

In closing remember these words to make each day a little easier….

Goodbyes are not forever and
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I will miss you

There are no words I can say to erase the pain and loneliness you are feeling.  I hurt for you and what you are facing. I will miss the special love/hate relationship I had with Mike.  No matter what he said to get under my skin, he always had a twinkle in his eye (the stinker)! I only wish I knew he was a card carrying member of the Girl Scouts.  I could have used that ammo!  I love you girl and I will be by your side whenever you need me.  Please don't hesitate to lean on me. I am only a phone call or a 15 min drive away.  When you feel sad, just remember two words "Watch this!"  Hang in there as you begin to discover your new normal and keep breathing...one moment at a time.  That is enough for right now. Carol and family: I'm so sorry i was traveling and unable to attend the service for Mike. He was a wonderful man and a true leader.I can only hope the fact that so many held him in such high regard is some consolation for your loss.

I can't put into words how deeply saddened my family and I are by this tragedy. Dad was the rock of our family, and the inspiration in our hearts. He was the only man who I could get a true, honest opinion from- even if it wasn't always the answer I wanted to hear. He did everything with 110%, and cared deeply for everyone around him. When I met my husband, that was the most important opinion I had ever asked Dad. I will never forget the conversation I had with him- his little girl telling him that she met the man she was spending the rest of her life with. He had tears in his eyes, and told me I couldn't have found anyone more perfect for his little girl. Matt meant a lot to Dad as well. He took Matt under his wing and looked at Matt as a son of his own. Dad always loved a challenge, and as many of you know, would love to debate and listen to everyone's opinion. He was very much dedicated to his work and the coast guard- sometimes, from a kid to even now, I would lay on his office floor for hours, just listening to him talking on the phone whether it was for business or coast guard (which usually turned into family talk, as you all may know). I would lay there and fall asleep to the sound of his voice, it put me at ease, not caring how long I had to wait to ask him a simple question. He never ended a conversation short, because he truly cared what everyone had to say. My sisters and I not only lost a father, but a best friend. We could not go a day without talking to him- and once Dad discovered video chat, we couldn't go a day without seeing him either. Growing up with 3 daughters, Dad made sure he was involved in all of our lives. Every weekend for 6 years he was on the gymnastics mats with me, helping coach and always giving advice and inspiring me if fear ever got in the way. Even though Dad will no longer be there in the morning to talk to when I first get to work, or call for any advice I need, he will truly be in my heart, and not a day will go by where I won't think of my best friend. I can't put into words how much our hearts are shattered, and the void that is left with us. Rest easy Dad, we will see you again one day.

When I heard the news Wednesday morning, my heart was shattered. I was so hurt that Mr. Mike had been taken away from this world and his girls. The whole Weiss family has always welcomed me into their lives and I hold a special place in my heart for each one of them for so many reasons. It is hard to imagine and accept that when I walk in the house, Mr. Mike won't be diligently working away in his office and glance up to give "HIS FAVORITE DAUGHTER" a smile, a wink, or a wave. It is devastating to imagine that when I go over to crash the Weiss' Christmas, I won't see his cheerful face. It is unfortunate that I won't get to hear him scold his daughters, or his wife, and secretly laugh, hoping that he didn't hear me! Mr. Mike was such an intelligent, fun-loving, wouldn't-take-crap-from anyone, man. He has given me one of the greatest gifts in my life: his family. I am hurting so bad for my 2nd Mama and 3 friends, who have turned into my sisters over the years. I cherish so many memories in my life that this man has been a part of. I will hold these happy memories deep in my heart forever. It is comforting to know that there is another guardian angel to look down upon us. He will always be that little voice in your head always telling you the right thing to do. My promise to him is to always love his girls unconditionally, the way he always has. But, seeing how you girls (and guys) have rallied around your mom during this very difficult time I know you are making your Dad very proud. And, Carol, Mike would be so proud of you as well. Although I only met Mr Mike a few times, I could tell how genuine he was. And after knowing all of his daughters I soon realized what a great father he was. My heart is breaking for Lauren, Kristen, Sami, and Mrs Carol. I know that none if this makes sense and the pain is unreal. Just know with each day that passes it will get a little bit easier. When I met Kristen, not only did I gain a Best Friend and a wife, But I also gained a second Father.  He was a father to me not just in title, but took me under his wing as his own son. October 11th 2012 Mr.Mike gave away his daughter Kristen to my brother. I was so happy to be able to be there on such a memorable day. He treated us as family since the day we met. I'm so glad that I got to spend the week with him and was able to get to know him. I am honored that my family was able to be connected to such a great man. He was a huge role model to my brother, and was such a great influence. Though he is gone too soon, he touched so many lives.

October 11th 2012, Mr. Mike gave his daughter Kristen to my brother Matthew. I was so happy to be there and to be a part of that day. I got to spend the week in the Bahamas with Mr. Mike and got to know him. He treated us as if we were family as soon as we met him. My brother truly thought of him as a second father, and I am so proud that Mr. Mike was connected to my family. Although gone too soon, he made such a huge impact on so many lives.

Mr. Mike I can't believe this happened! You fought for so long but you are at peace now! I couldn't imagine a better father for Lauren, Kristen and Sami or a better husband for Mrs. Carol! I'm glad I got to meet you and knew you for years! Look over all your family and friends! And of course I can't forget that kellen couldn't have a better pop then you! We have gained another angel! Love you and may you rest in peace

Michael was a great man. We always got along in our own special way. I miss him so much. Everyone who knew him is grieving right now. I am very sorry you also are going through this.
