On July 21, 2018, Melvin Gustav Krause, age 81, passed away at Forest Hill Heights in Forest Hill, MD. He was born in Baltimore, MD on December 9, 1936 to the late William and Elizabeth Schneider Krause. Mel graduated High School in 1955 from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and attended Johns Hopkins University. Mel grew up in the Patterson Park area of Baltimore. He served as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard from 1954 to 1960.
Mel was the husband of the late Joan Elizabeth Abbey Krause who passed away on May 19, 2018. They were married in 1958 and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 12, 2018.
Mel began his career as a Mechanical Engineer at Martin Marietta in Baltimore and then worked 33 years for the AAI Corporation in Hunt Valley, MD retiring in 1998. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children Kelly Bays (Jim) of Aberdeen, MD and David Krause (Brenda) of Aberdeen, MD; grandchildren Jacob Bays (fiance' Danielle Naeser), Julie Mullecker (Bill), Josh Bays, and Jonathan, Katie, and Andrew Krause. His sister Mary Csar (John) of Longwood, FL and his brother William Krause (Adrienne) of Hunt Valley, MD. He is predeceased by his daughter Kimberly A. Krause, and his sister Janet Krause.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 West MacPhail Road (at RTE 24) on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm; where a funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11am with interment to follow at the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
