In the early morning hours of August 19, 2024, Carolyn Anna Schwartz peacefully passed away after a long, beautiful life. Carolyn was known for her warmth and generosity; joyful attitude and smiling green eyes but it was her loving acceptance and ability to find deep joy in the smallest moments; a baby’s laughter, a hummingbird at her window, a visiting child at her door which made her much beloved by family and friends.
Carolyn was an extraordinary woman who went gently through the world spreading love and happiness. She was tender and kind. She had an unwavering desire to make others feel welcome and included. She had a fondness for shopping, fairies, and tea parties. Family and faith were most important. Much of her time was spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends. In her last months, she enjoyed watching the Orioles and reminisced about her father’s listening to the games on the radio. Carolyn adored the playful world of children and you would often find little ones at her side. Carolyn was unassuming and joyful, kind and compassionate, generous and humble.
She was born March 8, 1941, in Baltimore to James Francis Fousek and Grace Joy (Wallace) Fousek. She was the beloved sister of the late Jean Joyce (Fousek) Toland and the late James Francis Fousek, Jr. In 1964, she married her beloved husband Edwin Charles Schwartz; a connection that began as high school classmates and blossomed into a 60-year loving union. Carolyn was the loving mother of Anthony Schwartz and his wife Donna, Kelly Schwartz Keville and Michael Keville, and Jennifer Schwartz Mitchell and her husband Chad. Eleven adoring grandchildren survive her: Greg Hall, Tony Schwartz, Becky Schwartz, Matt Schwartz, John Michael Keville, Savannah Keville, Ben Keville, Scott Rhodes, Kate Schwartz-Mitchell, Abby Schwartz-Mitchell, Genevieve Schwartz-Mitchell and 11 great-grandchildren.
A receiving of friends for Carolyn will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 8030 Bradshaw Road, Kingsville, MD 21087.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations in Carolyn's name to St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org.
