Nellie May Stroud

Nellie May Stroud, age 97, of Indianapolis, Indiana died at her home of 72 years in Indianapolis on December 2. 2023. Nellie was born May 22, 1926 in Eckerty, Indiana to the late Sarah (Sandage) Newton and George W. Newton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Stroud (1925 – 2021). She is also preceded in death by her grandchild, John Williams. She grew up on a farm in Crawford County. She was the youngest of 11 children. She married her childhood sweetheart, Adrian, on December 14,1946, after he returned home from WWII. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary in 2020. Nellie is survived by daughters, Deborah Chappell (Verle) and Peggy Brown (Mike); grandchildren, Jason Williams (Anne-Marie), Sarah Weathers (Corey), Amanda Allueva, and Amy Williams; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was a special aunt to Rose Eckerty and Ronnie Newton. Nellie was “Ma” to everyone in the family. Visitation will be held Friday, December 8 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana with a funeral to follow at 6:00 PM. She will be laid to rest with a graveside service December 9, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, in English, Indiana.
