Shirley devoted her life to those she cherished most: her family. The love she had for her family was extraordinary, and it was the driving force behind everything she did. A natural nurturer, she was deeply rooted in her role as the matriarch of her family, and it was within this role that she thrived. Shirley was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her, and her light permeated throughout any space she occupied. Her gentleness and kind demeanor made all feel welcome when they were around her. Her innate strength combined with her empathetic heart made her a pillar of comfort to those who needed it most. She is leaving behind a legacy of love and values that will carry on in her absence through the lives she has impacted during her time on Earth.
Shirley was a devoted and loving mother to her three sons: Dennis (Debbie) Rash, Jimmy (Mary) Rash, and Jerry Rash. Shirley was also a beloved “Maw-Maw” to her five grandchildren: Angie (Aaron) Killen, Cody Rash, Selena (Chris) Burgess, Sierra Rash, and Katelyn Rash; and four great grandchildren: Ana Killen, Keegan Killen, Archer Burgess, and Remi Burgess.
Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dallas Rash; son Jimmy (Mary) Rash; step-son Sonny (Ellen) Rash; mother and father Ola and Glacie Virginia Reed; brothers Roger Reed, Ray Reed, Doug Reed, and Floyd Reed.
Others who are left to cherish Shirley’s memory are: sisters Loma Adkins, Eva McClure, Kathy Walls, and Susie Reed; brothers Denny Reed and James Reed, as well as many other family members who loved her dearly.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a committal service to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
