He was born in Zulu, Indiana on March 15th, 1931, to the late Russell Lawrence Oberley and Henrietta Mary Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jane Smith, and brother Billy Ray Oberley.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 1/2 years, Nancy Marie Oberley; his sisters, Delores (Dee) Coonrod and Donna Lou Lillo, both of Indiana; his 4 daughters, Valerie Ray (Brian), Denise Yoder (J.R.), Nikki Oberley Rusher, and Vicki Oberley-Miller (Michael), all of Indiana; along with 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Russell was a proud U.S. Army veteran and previous co-owner of Auto Trim in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He loved riding motorcycles, camping, country and bluegrass music and playing his bass and guitar. He also enjoyed his life on Muddy Creek Mountain and Arcadia, Florida with his family.
There will be a funeral service for Russell on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 1PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Russell will be laid to rest following the funeral.
