Robert Brown

Robert Edgar Brown, 87 of Glen Daniels, WV. Born May 13, 1929 at Birchton, WV to the late Wannie and Lottie Brown. He went to be with the Lord February 20, 2017 at Harper Mills Nursing Home after a short illness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Effie Madeline Webb Thomas, and his second wife Kay Bonds Brown; son, Greg, grandson Mickey, sister; Ethel Leopard, brother Alfred Brown and his beloved great grandson Hunter, and dogs Scamp and Lobo.

He is survived by his loving children; Laris (Shirley) Brown of Bolt, WV Yvonnia (David) Griffith of Ghent, Barry Brown (Debbie) of Cabell Heights, Randy Brown and (Diana) of old Eccles, Ryan Phipps of Sophia and Keith Phipps of Beckley, brothers; Charles (Martha) Brown of Glen Daniels, Noel (Brenda) Brown of Glen Daniels, Sisters; Thelma Whitlock of Forest, VA, Juanita (David) Goldsberry of West Columbia S.C. and Ramona (Eddie) Covey of Fairdale, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren.

Edgar was also known as “Pig” Brown to the men he worked with in the coal mines. He started in the coal mines when he was 17 years old at Edwight, WV.

He worked several different mines being one of the best electricians anywhere. He also enjoyed working in his garden and flowers. Ed was humbled in his later life, trusting in the Lord and lived a good life at home with his son, Randy taking care of him. Mr. Brown leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, friends and family whom will miss him dearly.

Graveside service will be held at the Mausoleum on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park at 1PM with a public visitation 30 minutes prior to service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.blueridgefuneralhome.com
