Patricia Gaye Dickinson, 86, Meadow Bridge, WV passed away May 29, 2024. Patricia was born in Pax, West Virginia on September 30, 1937 and was lovingly known as “Trish” or “Pat” by family and friends who will forever love and cherish her.
Surrounded by family, she was called home to rest high on the mountain with those that have left before her. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Shan Clifford and Mary Gertrude Lafferty Lively, (Pax, West Virginia); her sister Sona Kay “Katy” Powers (Elkton, Maryland) and her brothers; Jack Denny Lively (Pax, West Virginia), Harless Jay Grant, Jr (Ohio), and Buster Dean Lively (Morristown, Tennessee).
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ray (Mickey) Dickinson and their 4 children, a daughter, Lisa Rae (Kimmel), Lewes, Delaware and 3 sons, Chris Regan, Glasgow, Delaware; James Eric, Georgetown, Delaware; and Scott Douglas (Gayle) Dickinson, Pax, West Virginia; her brother, Elliott Douglas (Buzz) Lively, Brooklyn, Ohio; as well as 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, 9 nieces and nephews and their families.
Grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Thomas, Kelli (Chris) Willoughby, Scott (Christy)Dickinson, Shawn (Lisa) Dickinson, Michael Dickinson, Matthew (Christina) Dickinson, siblings Lisa and Kyle Dickinson.
Great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Cole, Lila, Lively, Charleigh; Henry, Nora, Jack, Jude, Kaylee, Aden, and Nathen.
Patricia grew up in Pax, West Virginia and graduated from Pax High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen,being especially proud of the year their small school won the West Virginia State Basketball Championship. She remained a loyal alumni often participating in class reunions and other events. It was at Pax High School that she got to know her future husband and they were married soon after graduation.
Patricia was a devoted wife and mother always putting family first. Having moved from Delaware back to West Virginia in 2001, Patricia enjoyed the peace and tranquility of their home. She loved being outdoors and watching Mother Nature’s show each day.
Patricia became actively engaged and spent decades researching the disappearance of her brother, Jack D. Lively whose plane was shot down during the Korean War on 11/6/1951 with 10 men aboard and was reported as Missing In Action. She was an avid researcher who shared her findings with the other family members and was a formidable spokesperson when meeting with various POW/MIA government agencies. She believed in and fought for the right to know.
A memorial service for Patricia will be held on Saturday, June 29th, from noon - 3 pm at the Long Branch United Methodist Church Auxiliary, Paint Creek Rd, Pax, WV.
