As a devoted couple, Nellie and Glen enjoyed their time together, spending countless hours swinging in the gazebo or holding hands while watching their favorite television shows. Many evenings were spent playing dominoes or cards with their close friends from the church and neighborhood.
In addition to being a loving wife, Nellie was a caring mother of three, Glen E. Blankenship Jr. (Deana) of Baton Rouge, LA, Paul Blankenship (Kim) of Mount Dora, FL, and Michelle Blankenship Leonard (Bruce) of Mullens, WV. She had seven grandchildren, Kristi (Sean), Holly (Brian), Alyssa, Michael (Denise), Aoibheall (William), Terri (Jason), and Candace (Dewayne). She had sixteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, where Nellie and Glen were members for many years, and to Hospice of Southern West Virginia. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
Services will be held at Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church, located at 123 Hoist Road, Stanaford, WV 25927 on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm with a short graveside ceremony following at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5251 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
