Maxine Toler

Maxine Cook Toler, 88, of Beckley was born in Oceana, WV on May 18, 1927. She was welcomed home to Heaven on December 15, 2015.

Maxine had an unwavering faith in God. She attended the Calloway Heights Baptist Church where she served on the Communion Committee and was a member of the ladies quilting group.

Maxine was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 61 years, James D. (Jack) Toler. She was also predeceased by her parents Bill and Bertha Cook and brothers Oscar, Billy, and Eldridge.

What is a mother but the sunshine of our days, and the shining star of our nights.

Maxine is survived by her son Jim Toler; daughter JoAnn Scott and husband Gerald; son Ronald Toler and wife Rebecca; son Michael Toler and wife Vicie; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Diana Oxley lovingly cared for Maxine in recent years and the family gives her our greatest gratitude.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley. The funeral service celebrating her life will begin at 2:00, immediately following the viewing.

Pastor William Parker will be officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International.
