Marvin Owen Lilly, 84, of Pemberton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
Born June 23, 1936 in Beaver; he was a son of the late Oscar and Eunice Redden Lilly.
Marvin loved hunting and fishing; he would go on an annual hunting trip with his brother, Ronnie; he was a member of the Glade Pinch Creek Trout Association for 30 years, and he was extremely honored when he became President; he loved spending time with his family. Marvin always had some form of hard candy, and the children learned and appreciated that.
Marvin worked for Walker Machinery and retired from there following many years of dedicated service. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force, and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edwin and Travis; his second wife, Wilma Lilly; and a step-daughter, Kathy Spade.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Gladys Reed Lilly of Pemberton; three brothers, Koy Lilly and wife, Barbara of Auburn, NY, Leon Lilly and wife, Sharon of Geneva, OH, and Ronnie Lilly and wife, Linda of Kingsport, TN; a sister, Gloria Barker of Delane, FL; two sons, Doug Upton and wife, Donna of Beaver Crossing, Neb, Todd Upton and wife, Cheri of Omaha, Neb; a daughter, Debra Upton of Beaver Crossing, Neb.; step-sons, Douglas Reed of Lorton, VA and Randy Reed of Daniels; three step-daughters, Vicky Allen of Beckley, Brenda Hale of Beckley, and Patricia Lewis of Pemberton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Marvin Owen Lilly will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, October 27, 2020 under the front Portico at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Joe Cadle officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Family will be serving as pallbearers. Following the services Marvin will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
In keeping with the mandate ordered by the Governor of WV facial coverings and social distancing will be required for the safety of the family and all attendees. For those unable to attend the service in person, the service will also on Facebook Live. You will need to go to Blue Ridge Funeral Home’s Facebook page to view.
