Manda Birchfield, 90, of Hotchkiss, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20, 2015. She was the daughter of Carlie and Katie Tedder. Preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ernest Birchfield, who was a former pastor of Sweet Home Church where she was a member for many years. She was preceded in death by five brothers Roscoe, Talmage, Oliver, Clarence (Bill), Clifton Tedder. Eight sisters Edna, Ethel Blevins, Etter Acord, Minnie Petty, Marie Tedder, Beulah Milam, Virginia Kincaid, and Hazel Ward, two grandsons AFB4 David Shane (Buddy) Brooks and Petty Officer First Class Jeffrey Scott Taylor. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Ray Birchfield of Hotchkiss and Roger Birchfield and wife Sandy of Big Stone Gap, VA. Two daughters Faye Brooks and husband David of Glen Fork, WV, and Gail Bowman and husband Jim of Midway, WV. A brother Silas Tedder and wife Hazel of Beckley, WV. She had seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Thanks to all who helped our mother in her time of need. She was dearly loved by all who knew her. Services will be held Monday, March 23, 2015, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Larry England, and Pastor Justin Farley officiating. Services of committal will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
