Mrs. Kathleen Kershner

Kathleen Bailey-Kershner 96, of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2023. She was born to the late Garland Edgar Bailey and Hattie Lewis Bailey. She was member of Grace Community Church in Lanark, WV.

Kathleen was an avid outdoorswoman, she enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, flowers and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and her church family. She also liked Pastor Everett where they enjoyed teasing one another. She also cherished Marvin Coleman and the way he pronounced her name.

She will be reunited with her parents, her first-born son Thomas Edgar Rakes, first husband Thomas Rakes, second husband, James Kershner, daughters Kathy Miller and Brenda Johnson, son Jerry Rakes, great grandson Gaige Rakes, and granddaughter Sharon Rae Swords.

Those left cherish her memory include three daughters; Sharon Harper of Beckley, WV, Judy Altice and husband Gregory of Dinwiddie, VA, and Shelia Rakes of Bland VA, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and many friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2 PM with Pastor Everett Meadows officiating at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 1 PM until the time of the service. Following the services, she will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
