On Friday, October 6, 2023, John Lawson Hedrick, JR (Johnny), age 68, of Crab Orchard, passed from this life after fighting a good fight, keeping the faith, finishing his course. He has now entered his eternal rest into the presence of Jesus while being surrounded by his loving family.
John was a dependable, loyal and loving family man, a beloved role model, a hard worker, a proud Father & Grandfather, an adored brother, loved Uncle, and a friend to all who knew him. He was employed by the Kroger Company for 34 years and was a million-mile truck driver for TMC Transportation, which he loved for over 16 years. He retired after over 50 years of service in February 2020. He was blessed with time to do the thing he loved most, spending time with his family making precious memories. He was a faithful attendant of Cornerstone FWB Church.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John L. & Almedia Hedrick; his sisters, Vicky Staton (Danny), Becky Wiseman (Robert) and a Brother-in-law, James Monarchy. Those that remain to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Jill Hedrick; 2 sons, John L. Hedrick III and Joshua Hedrick; 2 daughters, Angela Messer (Duke) and Gracie Hedrick; 2 grandsons, Duke Messer Jr. and Brayden Maynor and his Mother, Kathy Maynor; 2 sisters, Gertrude Dabbs (John) and Beulah Monarchy; a brother in law, Jeff Harrah; nieces, Teresa Staton, Carla Wiseman, and Kimmie Wiseman Mahlmeister; nephews Eugene Schott (Donna), James Monarchy Jr (Michelle), Michael Wiseman (Rebecca), and many other nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and beloved family friends.
Johnny was so grateful for all the love shown and the prayers he received through his short illness; and a special thank you to Hospice for their help through this difficult time.
Service will be held at Cornerstone FWB Church, with Preacher Roger Tolliver and Pastor RD Tolliver officiating, on Saturday. October 14th, 2023, at 12PM. Visitation will be 2 hours before service begins.
Pallbearers will be son, John Hedrick III; son, Joshua Hedrick; Son-in-law, Duke Messer; grandson, Duke Messer Jr; grandson, Brayden Maynor and great nephew, Wyatt Staton-Cole.
