James “Jimmy” William Hensley, 70 of Wayside, passed away, 04:30am, Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House. He was the son of the late Joseph Hensley and Leona Utt Hensley. He was born September 24, 1945 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia. James was a graduate from Sophia High School. He served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and served during the Tet Offensive. He was a lineman for Appalachian Power for 10 years then drove as an independent truck driver for almost 30 years. He returned to West Virginia in 2006 after his marriage to Jody Hensley and resided in Forest Hill on Jody’s Mountain. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jody Protovin Hensley; brother, Alex Henlsey of Auburn, PA; sisters, Lee Aten of Clearwater, Florida, and Donna Shumate of Oakhill; sons, Michael and J.D. Hensley of North Carolina. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Ascension Episcopal Church in Hinton, WV. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralhome.com.
