Elvis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She served for more than 50 years as a children’s Sunday School teacher at Dorothy Church of God. She made her home the last 16 ½ years with her daughter Barbara and her family in Beckley. She attended Beckley Church of God and most recently EnHope Ministries at Glen Daniel, WV. Elvis loved spending time with her family and friends, playing ball and horseshoes, working in the garden, petting the family dogs, sitting outside in her rocking chair, and drinking coffee.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Maben Stover, her son Paul and three great-grandsons born sleeping, Christian, Cody and Jacob Danysh. Six sisters, Marie “Sis” Dean Markham, Lillian Stanley, Thelma Arthur, Loretta Holsten, Charlotte Thompson, and Mary “Dollbaby” Woodrum and three brothers Mitchell, Guyna and Carl "Tommy" also preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters and their husbands: Carol Thompson (Ronnie) of Seth, WV; Debbie White (John) of Peru, IN; Barbara Akers (Mike) of Beckley; daughter-in-law, Vera Goodson of Falls Church, VA; eight grandchildren: Mark Thompson (Ronda) of Goodlettsville, TN; Brigitte Wilson-Ducker (Jim) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Misty Norris (Jeff) of Greenbrier, TN; Laura Danysh (Matthew) of Alexandria, VA; Angela Diehl (Chris) of Huntington, IN; Lisa Murphy (Matthew) of Peru, IN; Sarah Akers (Bryce Peek, fiancé) of Beckley; and Mikayla Epling (Kaleb) of Mooresville, NC and 12 great-grandchildren: Brody and Alana Thompson, Jaclyn Wilson, Karly and Tommy Norris, Caleb and Connor Danysh, Ean Waymire and Samantha and Jacob Diehl, Isabella and TJ Murphy.
A private service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Wicker officiating. The service can be viewed via Facebook live stream at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home website. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thompson, Mike Akers, Mark Thompson, Bryce Peek, Kaleb Epling and Dennis Humphrey. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
