Darrell was employed as a coal mine electrician for 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and church family more than anything. Darrell was a member of Breckenridge Baptist Church and volunteered at Helping Hands.
Darrell is preceded in death by his stepson, Chris Simpkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Hopkins; stepdaughter, Terri Billups (Brent) of OH; sons, John Hopkins of Beckley and Chris Hopkins of CA and their mother, Myrtle Barb; grandchildren, Jessica (Johnathan) Ramsey of TN, Robbie and Beth Billups of OH; two great-granddaughters and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at Breckenridge Baptist Church Monday November 18 at 12:00PM with Rev. Corey Brooks, Rev. Dewey Lowe and Pastor Frank Hay officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family from 10:00AM until the time of the services at 12:00PM.
