Dallas Alvin Cochran, age 85 of Crab Orchard passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Bowers Hospice House. Born December 30, 1936 in Lester, WV; he was the son of the late Alvin Cochran and Mildred Coleman-Cochran.
Dallas was devoted and loving to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time playing music with his friends. He was a very talented musician that played many instruments and enjoyed teaching others. Dallas had friends everywhere he went. He had a smile and personality that could light up any room. He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church for many years and had developed close friendships along the way. Dallas had a strong faith that was admired by us all.
Dallas Cochran was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired as a Tech Sgt. (E-6) in 1974 after 20 years of service. He served in multiple countries and duty stations including Morocco, Turkey, and Italy. Following his military service, he worked for the Veterans Administration at the VA Hospital in Beckley, WV and retired from Federal Service after many more years of service as a Warehouse Supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha Cochran; sisters, Geraldine McKeever, Shelvie Bolen, Phyllis Lockhart, and Belva June Hart; brother, Virgil Coleman; daughter in law, Melanye Cochran, and granddaughter, Nicole Cochran; great-grandson, Kaleb Jarman.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Fran Dixon and husband, Dennis of NC; children, Dallas Cochran, Jr of TX, John Cochran and wife, Tamiko of VA, Lesa Hess and husband, Mike of Beckley, Noah Cochran and wife, Sarah of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Michael Valentine, Chyanna Booker and husband, Paul, Johnny Cochran and wife, Meg, Michael Cochran and wife, Karen, Bryson Hess, Taylor, Tessa, and Elianna Cochran; great-grandchildren, Dominik Jarman, Blaque Cochran, Colby and Jalynn Booker, Mikey and Levi Cochran; extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until 2:00PM Friday afternoon, June 17, 2022 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Funeral Services will be held directly after at 2:00PM with Pastors Robert Ingram and Fred Hart officiating. Entombment will follow in the Faith Mausoleum in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
