Clayton Canterbury

Clayton Earl Canterbury, 88 of Prosperity went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2024 at Bower's Hospice House. Born on September 4, 1936 at Wingrove, he was the son of the late Dayton and Clara McKinney Canterbury.

Clayton worked at the Dr. Pepper plant, retiring after 28 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and go out on the lake on his pontoon boat. Before his health declined, he attended Bradley Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings and was the last remaining member of his immediate family. He was also preceded by a daughter, Martha Lynn Canterbury and a son Paul David Canterbury.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Robertson Canterbury, son Thomas Wayne Canterbury, three grandchildren Carrie, Paul and Martha, and a special daughter in law, Mary Canterbury, who was also his caregiver.

Services will be held on Monday December 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Canterbury Jr. officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bower's Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, in Clayton's memory.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
