Billy Joe "Spin" Adkins, Sr.

Billy Joe “Spin” Adkins, Sr., age 74, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Born on March 25, 1944 in Terry, WV, he was the son of the late Ed Adkins and Mary Opal Adkins. He was a retired coal miner and a longtime member of Terry Independent Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Roy Adkins, Eddie Adkins, Hagar Joe Adkins, Johnny Adkins, Ruth Gillian, Wilma Simsick, Rose Berry and Julia Sadler; and his son, Philip Wayne Adkins.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lottie Burdette Adkins; step-son, Richard Burdette and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Sarah Adkins; son, Billy Joe Adkins, Jr and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Brett Shrewsbury, Trey Adkins, Tasha Smith and Aaron Burdette; and great-grandchildren, Marley Jo Shrewsbury, Julian Shrewsbury, Rhiannon Faith Shrewsbury and Silas James Shrewsbury.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2019 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Brewer officiating. Burial will follow the service in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
