Mrs. Betty Marie Smith Shelford

Betty Marie Smith Shelford, 79, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Born February 25, 1935 at Bath, NY she was a daughter of the late Ward VanBuren Smith and the late Florence Anna Decker Smith.

Betty was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Beckley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley “Eugene” Shelford on July 3, 2013; two grandchildren, Aaron Daniel Shelford and Kristen M. Ledwell; a brother, Robert V. Smith; and two sisters, Helen L. Perry and Dorothy M. Smith; and her beloved dog, Princess.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Daniel Shelford and wife, Tammy of Nettie, Ruth Shelford of Mt. Hope and Timothy Shelford and wife, Elizabeth of Hatfield, PA; grandchildren, Cassandra E. Shelford, Jennifer L. Shelford, Timothy C. Shelford, and John W. Shelford; best friend, Donna Miller; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Betty Marie Smith Shelford will be held 3:00PM Thursday, September 4, 2014 with Rev. Roy Owens and Pastor Chris Smith officiating. Following the services Betty will be laid to rest beside her loving husband, Eugene at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family from 2:00PM until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Oar, Dr. Rajiv Khanna, Dr. Ganpat Thakker, and the compassionate staff at Bowers Hospice House.
