Mrs. Betty Mitchell

After Betty graduated from Herdon High School in 1942, she began a 25 year long career as a Post Master for the U.S. Postal Service.

Betty married her first husband Clyde Mitcham and had 3 children together: Larry Mitcham, Clyde Mitcham Jr, and Mike Mitcham. They had several happy years together before his passing. Betty married Raymond Mitchell and spent many years with him before he passed.

Betty loved to spend her time working on crossword puzzles, raising flowers, and corresponding with her many pen pals. She attended the Bluestone View Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her father George W. Dove; mother Clara A Keatley; husband Clyde Mitcham; husband Raymond Mitchell; sons Clyde “Buddy” Mitcham and Mike Mitcham; and sisters Peggy Anderson, Jane Johnson, and Patty Ernst.

Betty is survived by her son Larry Mitcham; sister Billie Wall; 9 grand-children; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends who will miss her. She was loved by everyone she met and meant a lot to those in her life.

The Celebration of Life Services for Betty Mitchell will be held on Monday, September 11th of 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home located at 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV, 25801. The visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. The entombment and committal will follow immediately after the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
