Jean Felicie (Sisco) Philips was born on December 13, 1955 in Alamogordo New Mexico, to Harley and Cecile (Sauvrezy) Sisco. She and her family had the opportunity to live in multiple countries as they moved to accommodate her father’s service in the Air Force. She spent most of her life in Portland, where she met and married Joseph Philips in 1977.
They had 3 daughters, Corrina, Diana, and Christina. She spent so much time with them, driving her daughters to and from sporting events, taking trips, and just enjoying time at the house. Jean loved the holidays – especially Christmas. She helped create so many memories for her family, making Christmas candy, listening to Christmas music, and decorating the house. She put time with her family above all else, never hesitating to stop what she was doing to play a game, have a talk, or just spend time together whenever her daughters needed it. She was such a loving person that many nieces, nephews, and friends of her children considered her a second mother.
The only thing that made her happier than being a mother, was being a grandmother to her 4 grandsons, Miles, Jeremiah, Benjamin, and Jacob. She was an incredibly involved grandmother who spent lots of time running, reading, snuggling, and enjoying her grandsons. She loved surprising them, and knowing how much they love convertibles, she decided to rent one for a day, and drove around town with them, making some incredible memories.
Jean loved to travel, and one of her favorite trips was to take her girls to France, and show them where she lived, where her mother grew up, and to introduce them to her relatives who still live there. She also took her family on a special Hawaiian vacation in recent years where she was able to share her love of the beach and travel with her grandsons.
Though she had many different roles in healthcare, her most recent and favorite job was in Cardiac Rehab. She looked forward to seeing her friends and patients every day. So many patients and co-workers have commented that her smiling face was the first thing they saw each day, and she brought such a positive presence to everyone around her. She made so many wonderful friends through the years, and treasured the times they spent together, travelling, going out for lunch, or just sitting and talking for hours.
Jean passed away on July 13th, 2019, surrounded by her daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, and her parents Harley and Cecile. She is survived by her daughters, Corrina Philips, Diana Philips, Christina Pho, her son in law, Daniel Pho, her grandsons, Miles Pho, Jeremiah Pho, Jacob Pho, Benjamin Philips, her brother Bernard Sisco, her sister in law Linda Sisco, her sister Laura Sisco, and many nieces and nephews.
