Ailish Clohessy-Brandon, 70, of Beaverton OR, peacefully went to heaven on November 30, 2019 after a long struggle with lung disease. She was surrounded by family and friends when she went to meet the Lord and now rests calmly in the hollow of His hand.
She was born in Seaside OR on September 9, 1949. Ailish attended St. Cecilia’s school, graduated from St. Mary’s of the Valley and received her bachelor’s in early childhood education from University of Portland.
She was married to Duff Brandon on December 1st, 1973 at St. Cecilia’s church. They shared 45 years of marriage and were one day shy of celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary.
Ailish started her career as a Kindergarten teacher in Guam, where she met Duff. Upon returning to the states she taught and then took over her mother’s school, Clohessy Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten for 10 years. When she had children, she chose to stay home while raising her 4 daughters and later went back to work at Findley Elementary in the Beaverton School District.
She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and always sat in the front row, which became her front row ministry and is still a family tradition today. She had a passion for teaching inside and outside of the classroom, sitting in the sun, gardening, supporting those around her, raising her ever-growing family and sitting at the counter drinking a good cup of Irish tea.
She was survived by her husband Duff, daughters: Shavaghn, Shineadth, Sheila and Shawna and grandchildren Adelle, Cecelia and Joseph. Also survived by her brother John and sister Noreen.
Funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on December 7, 2019 at 11:00 am with reception to follow.
