Mineola, TX – Ruth Hamman Young, a beloved longtime resident of Kountze, TX, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith. She was a devoted member of Kountze Church of Christ and lived each day with a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Ruth earned her teaching degree from Sam Houston State University and dedicated many years to shaping young lives as a teacher with Cleveland ISD and Hardin-Jefferson ISD. Alongside her husband, David George Young, she also built a thriving business, Young Chrysler and Young Suzuki/Yamaha in Liberty, TX, sharing a true partnership in both life and work.
In her free time, Ruth was a talented seamstress whose creations brought joy to family and friends. She treasured outings to the World Trade Mart with her sister, Ann, and especially enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren’s lives, offering them unconditional love and guidance.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David George Young, and her parents, E.T. and Jimmie Ruth Hamman. She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Davidson and husband Brian of Baytown son,Tyson Young and wife Amie of Lumberton; her sister, Ann Carpenter and husband John of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Kyle Kite and wife Taylor of Anahuac, Kourtlynne Kite, a student at Houston Christian University, Ryan Young a student at Ave Marie, and Taylor Young of Lumberton; and her great-granddaughter, Willow June Kite of Anahuac.
A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at Kountze Church of Christ on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather for a time of fellowship and remembrance at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Ruth’s warmth, compassion, and joyful spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished by family and friends as they carry forward her legacy of love and devotion.
