Robert P. “Pat” Green passed away at home on March 3, 2021, at the age of 76. Pat was born to Martell Fields Green and Mildred “Beckie” Berry Green, in Hickman County, Kentucky. Pat is remembered by all for his kindness and his big smile. After graduating from Hickman County High School in 1962, Pat attended Murray State University for two years. He then attended the University of Kentucky and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1967.
Pat moved to Beaumont, Texas to begin his career at Mobil Oil Refinery. He and Kathy met shortly thereafter in 1969. Together, Pat and Kathy lived in Beaumont for most of their lives, with brief stops along the way in Houston, Fairfax County (Virginia) and San Antonio. Pat and Kathy celebrated 50 blissful years of marriage on July 4, 2020. They had two beautiful daughters, Amanda Grace and Rebecca Kate. Pat raised his daughters to be strong women. He supported all of their endeavors in childhood, and he stressed the importance of faith through his acts of service, prayers, and steadfast church attendance. Pat and Kathy’s church home for many years was First United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas, where they were members of the Cornerstones Sunday School Class.
Pat enjoyed a long and fulfilling professional career, working for Mobil Oil, Sigmor, Diamond Shamrock, Mobil Chemical, and Total. Pat supported many charitable organizations through his membership with First United Methodist Church, Beaumont, and Beaumont’s Rotary Club. Some of his favorite volunteer roles included supporting Habitat for Humanity, Some Other Place, the Christmas Bureau, and the First United Methodist Church Estate Sale Committee.
Pat is survived by his wife Kathleen Walker Green; sister Jerrie Lee Cox of Ashland City, Tennessee; daughters, Amanda Green of Kingwood, Texas; and Rebecca Green Ray and her husband, James-Ryan Ray of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren Jackson Robert (16), Jacob Manning (13), Abigail Michaela (13), Noah Christopher (12) and Samuel Walker (11); Brother- and Sister-in-law Clark and Ninette Walker Teel of Beaumont, Texas; Nieces and Nephews Sharon Crenshaw, James Crenshaw, Charles Teel and Elisabeth Teel.
